STAY IN MORBIHAN
Located between the Gulf of Morbihan and the peninsula of Quiberon, Carnac is a very popular seaside resort. It is mainly known for its prehistoric heritage and alignments of 2,934 menhirs. Come and contemplate them by day or by night during the "Skedanoz" of Carnac - visual and audible poetic spectacle.
RELAXATION AND NAUTIC ACTIVITIES
Quiberon is a 14 kilometers-long peninsula. Quiberon Bay is one of the most beautiful bays in the world. This seaside resort, which is therefore between land and sea, will allow you to go back to the basics by relaxing in nature, facing the ocean or at the heart of the wild moor.
THE CÔTE SAUVAGE
At the edge of the Auray river, the port of Saint-Goustan, which was formerly a fishing and trading port, has kept all its charm of yesteryear. Today the small port is dedicated to yachting and is also one of the stopovers of the “Semaine du Golfe”, which is a mythical maritime and terrestrial manifestation taking place every two years, during the week of the Ascension.
DURING YOUR WALK
The Étel River is a small coastal river flowing in an estuary, it is a deep valley invaded by the sea at high tide.
The rip current of Étel is an underwater sandbar formed by crossing currents.
The port of Étel is the starting point to discover the Ria d'Étel, which is a miniature version of the Gulf of Morbihan.
AT THE HEART OF THE RIA, THE VILLAGE OF SAINT-CADO WHICH CONTAINS TREASURES
Located at the heart of the Bay of Quiberon, La Trinité-Sur-Mer is known by skippers from all over the world thanks to the various nautical competitions it hosts, such as the Spi Ouest France or the Ar Men Race.
The Gulf of Morbihan gave its name to the department. It is an inland sea: Mor-bihan means "small-sea" in Breton. This place is one of the most beautiful bays in the world. According to legend, the Gulf of Morbihan was created by the tears of fairies who were thrown out of Brocéliande forest. Then, they threw away their crowns, which became islands.
A Breton proverb says there are as many islands as there are days in the year. In reality, there are forty. You can visit the two most important ones: Île aux Moines "The Pearl of the Gulf" and île d’Arz "The Island of Captains".
HOW TO VISIT THE ISLANDS?
